The Society produces publications which are available for sale at modest cost, either by post or via Genfair (see below for details). There is a very large collection available. Many cover the whole of the ancient County of Surrey including the metropolitan area now in Greater London, some relate to West Surrey only, and a significant number of very useful publications cover all, or parts of, Middlesex and London.

The publications are produced in the following series:

We now provide some publications, currently the Surrey Parish Registers as downloads, but more are being added all the time. They are listed on this page, but are only available from Genfair.

CD series (CD)

This series is large, and being added to on a regular basis. The CDs offer extensive compilations of transcriptions and/or indexes. The transcriptions are all fully indexed, and all the CDs are fully searchable using PDF files which make them suitable for use with virtually any computer.

Research Aids Series (RA)

These items are designed to assist the researcher by providing location lists and guides to documents, classifying material, maps and other ideas which will help the genealogist in his task. Some - but not all - of these Research Aids are available on CD7 "A Collection of Surrey Research Aids". Similarly, some of the Research Aids are available free of charge to download from link above.

Record Series (RS)

The series is designed to provide indexed transcripts of texts, or pure indexes to important Surrey sources, especially name lists. Most volumes are indexed, not just by person, but also, where appropriate, by place and subject.

Microfiche Series - Parish Registers (MP)

Fully indexed transcriptions of registers from their beginnings (subject to their survival) up to about 1840 in all cases for baptisms and burials and in many cases including marriages. A majority of parishes for the whole county are available. Some of the registers in this series are also available on CD so it is worth comparing the two series to determine which will best suit your needs.

Microfiche Series - Early Wills (MW)

These are abstracts from Surrey Wills (registered and unregistered) - earliest 1480 through to 1821. They give all the main points from each will such as names of beneficiaries, witnesses, legatees and names of family and properties where mentioned. Comprehensively Indexed. A fantastic Surrey resource. Now available on CDs 34 - 37.

Microfiche Series - Monumental Inscriptions (MI)

Inscriptions collected from tombstones, etc in about 40 West Surrey churches and churchyards and several churches in the Croydon area. Our CD series also offers some of these Monumental Inscriptions.

Microfiche Series - Miscellaneous (MS)

Transcriptions and Indexes of various records some of which are not so well known or used, including: Apprenticeships, Hearth Tax, Oath Rolls, Lay Subsidies, Soldiers who Died in the Great War, selected Census Indexes including those for Metropolitan Surrey areas such as Southwark and Camberwell, Allegations for Marriage Licences, Directories, and Family Announcements.
