INDEX OF MEMBERS' INTERESTS & TOTAL DESCENT CHARTS
The Society holds an Index of Members' Surname Interests (names that are being researched) compiled since 1994, in Surname order giving County, Place and Time Period. With close to 10,000 entries from current Members, this Index can be found on-line, but please read further......................Do note that Surname Interests are just that, and do not refer to specific individuals or families. However the Society has linked these Surnames to Total Descent Charts submitted in paper form, again since 1994. These show all paternal and maternal ancestry lines researched to date. So it is often possible, by personal examination, to see where a certain surname comes into a Member's ancestry.
Area covered: Worldwide.........most of us (like you perhaps?) seem to have relations somewhere abroad.
Time span: Variable, some Interests & Charts go back to 1500.
The Members' Interests Index, in paper form, will be available for personal examination with the Descent Charts at West Surrey FHS Open days and at some Meetings.
This Interests Index includes County/Country references using Chapman codes which can be found at www.wirksworth.org.uk/A26-CHAP.htm. Also Place & Period. Where these columns are blank assume 'All' or 'Any'; so if just the Surname is entered all occurrences of that name anywhere at any time are being researched.
The Index is updated quarterly from the names published in our magazine Root & Branch, so why not bookmark this page and come back to us another time even if unsuccessful now?
